DR. CARLOS JIMENEZ

DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY

EDUCATION

Carlos holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Florida International University, where he
also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the
University of Amsterdam, focusing on athlete monitoring and injury prevention in elite sport.
His clinical expertise is reinforced by advanced certifications, including:
• Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS)
• Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS)
• Registered in Musculoskeletal Diagnostic Ultrasound (RMSK) – a highly specialized and
rigorous certification held by a select group of clinicians worldwide. The RMSK credential
demonstrates advanced skill in diagnostic ultrasound, requiring in-depth knowledge of
musculoskeletal anatomy and pathology.

WHY ARE YOU A PHYSICAL THERAPIST?

Carlos was first inspired by the science of movement while playing competitive sports, but it was
witnessing the impact of high-quality rehabilitation on injured athletes that truly motivated him
to pursue physical therapy. He became fascinated with how performance, data, and human
mechanics intersect—and how the right intervention at the right time can change the trajectory of
an athlete’s career.

His passion for sports medicine goes beyond a love of competition. It’s rooted in a desire to
empower patients to thrive under pressure, recover stronger from setbacks, and extend the
longevity of their careers. Through his work with national teams, Olympic committees, and
professional clubs, Carlos has seen firsthand how individualized, integrated care can optimize
performance both on and off the field.
Now, as a Ph.D. candidate, Carlos is combining his clinical experience with data
science—researching how biometrics, load management, and recovery metrics can be used to
reduce injury risk and enhance athletic performance at the highest levels.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

When he’s not working with athletes or buried in data, Carlos enjoys spending time outdoors,
hiking, snowboarding, and exploring Europe. A lifelong learner, he’s also into language learning
(he speaks English, Spanish, and basic Italian/Portuguese), and enjoys cooking and reading about
performance psychology, physiology, and human potential.
