ALEX OGLESBY

DOCTOR OF CHIROPRACTIC

BACKGROUND

Dr. Alex Oglesby was born in Oklahoma City, OK but his family moved to Aurora, CO when he was 3 so he grew up locally. His father worked with professional sports venues and mother was the founder of Elements Massage so he always grew up around sports and physical care of the body. He grew up playing baseball and football, and was recruited to play football and throw shotput and discus for Doane University. He married his high school sweetheart and they have an elementary school aged daughter, Emma.

After a knee injury turned Dr. Alex away from pursuing a career in sports he came back to Denver to finish his undergraduate degree at CU Denver while working as a valet at Larimer Square, Union Station, and many other locations (if he looks familiar that might be why). He finished his first degree in Criminal Justice with intention to go to law school, but the more time he was in that field, the more he realized it was not the right fit. He went back to undergrad through an accelerated program at Cleveland University – Kansas City, before moving to the Doctorate of Chiropractic program graduating in December of 2021. After graduating Chiropractic school Dr. Alex and his family moved back to Colorado in 2021 and now live in Aurora, CO.

EDUCATION

Dr. Oglesby attended CU Denver where he graduated with his degree in Criminal Justice before adding a biology focus during an accelerated undergraduate program at Cleveland University – Kansas City where he would also attend chiropractic school. Throughout his undergrad education, Dr. Oglesby worked as a valet in downtown Denver. After undergrad, Dr. Oglesby attended Cleveland University – Kansas City in Overland Park, KS. At Cleveland he was involved with Adjust Club, where he was a leader and teacher of adjusting techniques courses for people newer to the program. Dr. Oglesby has continued his education focusing on healing and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries and treatment of athletes recovering from injuries. He has Pre-Participation Examination certification for athletes in Colorado, and extremity adjusting specialty through Extremity Evolution.

WHY ARE YOU A CHIROPRACTOR?

Dr. Oglesby has been under chiropractic care since he was a child. Growing up playing multiple sports and his mother owning a massage studio, he was always around the non-medicinal healing space. This was not what drove him to be a chiropractor just got him familiar with the field. In 2015 after finishing his undergrad degree, his wife was in a car accident. Dr. Oglesby sent his wife to his childhood chiropractor (and future mentor), who was able to help her heal quickly and properly. Dr. Oglesby met with this doctor after the care and the doctor suggested he go “take a tour” of Cleveland University. Dr. Oglesby fell in love with the campus and ideology and knew he could help people with his hands and intention to heal. Dr. Oglesby finds the biggest inspiration when his patients have the “ah-ha” moment that just because the social norm says people have more pain as they age, that does not always have to be the case and many times people can live happier, and fuller lives while being pain free.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?

Dr. Oglesby has a hobby of collecting hobbies, of course being a former college athlete, he loves all things sports and competitive. He also loves to take walks with his pit bull mix, go swimming with his family, go to the zoo / the Children’s Museum / The Museum of Nature and Science. He’s also more recently gotten into playing board games, cards games, and becoming more of a cinephile (movie enthusiast). Dr. Oglesby is a fan of all things Star Wars, Bethesda video games, and Wes Anderson movies.
